The Fine Art Studio: Building a Profitable, High-End Portrait Business
Join us for an immersive, hands-on four-day workshop designed for photographers who want to elevate their portrait work into compelling fine art imagery. This intensive experience combines live shooting sessions, creative direction, technical instruction, and professional business education to help you build both your artistic vision and your photography brand.
Throughout the workshop, participants will learn how to create emotionally driven, story-rich portraits using intentional lighting, styling, posing, and post-processing techniques. Whether you specialize in children, pets, or conceptual portraiture, this workshop will provide practical tools and creative inspiration you can immediately apply to your own work.
Day 1 (Thursday March 18, 2027) — Fine Art Children’s Portraits
Learn how to create timeless and expressive children’s portraits with a focus on connection, storytelling, and emotion. Topics include:
- Working with children naturally and confidently
- Posing and expression guidance
- Studio light techniques
- Wardrobe and styling choices
- Props and set design
- Creating painterly fine art imagery
Day 2 (Friday March 19, 2027) — Fine Art Pet Portraits
Discover techniques for photographing pets with personality, patience, and artistic impact. Topics include:
- Animal handling and engagement techniques
- Lighting setups for pets
- Capturing expression and movement
- Styling, backgrounds, and prop selection
- Creating dramatic and emotional pet portraits
- Building a successful pet photography niche
Day 3 (Saturday March 20, 2027) — Character Portraits
Step into the world of conceptual and character-driven portraiture. Participants will learn how to transform ideas into visually powerful images through:
- Character development and storytelling
- Costuming and clothing coordination
- Creative lighting and mood
- Directing subjects for cinematic portraits
- Composition and visual impact
- Designing competition-worthy imagery
Day 4 (Sunday March 21, 2027) — Post Processing & Photoshop
Bring your images to life with detailed editing and fine art finishing techniques. This day focuses on:
- Workflow and file organization
- Fine art retouching
- Painterly Photoshop techniques
- Color grading and mood creation
- Preparing images for print and competition
- Developing a consistent artistic style
